Enable or disable Adaptive Brightness in Windows
How can I stop the computer from automatically adjusting my screen brightness?
Some notebooks have an ambient light sensor that Windows uses to automatically adjust the screen brightness to match the lighting conditions in your surroundings.
Use the following steps to turn Adaptive Brightness On or Off.
Windows 10:
- Type Acer Quick Access in the Windows search box.
- Select Acer Quick Access from the list of search results.
- Select the Settings icon
. - Move the Adaptive brightness slider to OFF. Disabling Adaptive brightness can reduce battery life.
Windows 8
- Press the Windows (
) key + C, or swipe in from the right edge of the screen to open your Charms. - Select the Settings charm, and then click Change PC settings.
- Tap or click on General.
- Locate Adjust my screen brightness automatically. If this setting is not present, your device is not equipped with a light sensor.
- Tap to slide the slider under this option to On or Off depending on your preference.
Windows 8.1
- Press the Windows (
) key + C, or swipe in from the right edge of the screen to open your Charms. - Select the Settings charm, and then click Change PC settings.
- Tap or click on PC and devices, then select Power and sleep.
- Locate Adjust my screen brightness automatically. If this setting is not present, your device is not equipped with a light sensor.
- Tap to slide the slider under this option to On or Off depending on your preference.
